The island has lovely snorkel spots on both sides: Ha’ena Beach Park, Ke’e Beach, and Anini Beach on the north end have wonderful clear waters, while Prince Kuhio, Salt Pond, and Poipu on the south are great snorkel beaches. Typically, the swell hits the north shore in the winter and the south shore in the summer, so there’s always an option. It’s the most dangerous in the Hawaiian archipelago, and if the gear rental shop won’t hand you a snorkel, say thank you and visit them again the following day they know what’s what.
